“Meeting Humanity’s Greatest Challenge”:
Global Warming and Smart Architecture
Examined at September Meeting
Internationally recognized architect Ed Mazria has a pretty good
hunch about the cause of a problem that may threaten the
survival of Planet Earth as we know it.
As
summarized in his articles “It’s the Architecture, Stupid!” and
also reported in
“Metropolis Magazine”, he points out the architect’s role in
global warming though flawed concepts in facility design.
The
architectural design of all of the buildings in the United
States and their associated energy consumption are responsible
for the most significant sector of greenhouse gas emissions.
These emissions impact global warming. Mazria stands in
the forefront of sustainable building design concepts.
Come network with the New Mexico Facility Managers Network in a
joint meeting with the New Mexico Association of Energy
Engineers and the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and
Air Conditioning Engineers on Wednesday, September 15th,
at the Albuquerque Petroleum Club at 5:30 pm for a spirited
discussion about the role of architecture as it relates to the
important problem of global warming.
Anyone who manages, utilizes, or designs a building and believes
there is hope for lessening this impact on the environment
should attend.
